Dr. Philip Ryken

Lewis and the Scriptural foundation for apologetics today/Lewis’s view of regeneration

Dr. Philip Ryken is the personification of the scholar-pastor. A 1988 graduate of Wheaton College, Ryken went on to complete his Master of Divinity degree at Westminster Theological Seminary, before heading off to England and the University of Oxford where in 1995, he earned his Doctor of Philosophy degree in historical theology. An ordained Presbyterian clergyman, he was the senior minister of the historic Tenth Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia from 2000 to 2010. In 2010, The Wheaton Board of Trustees announced his selection as that college’s eighth and current president. He is the author of more than thirty books, including a superb two-volume commentary on the Gospel of Luke, and a two-volume commentary on I and 2 Kings. His 2016 book, When Trouble Comes is a wonderful help to anyone facing, grief, loss, or depression. He is a member of the Alliance of Confessing Evangelicals, the Gospel Coalition, and his expository preaching is heard weekly across North America on the national radio and internet broadcast, “Every Last Word.” He is a life-long student of C. S. Lewis and has contributed to the volume, “C.S. Lewis and the Church” essays in honor of Walter Hooper, published by T&T Clarke.
